I went to El Corte de Madera Creek Preserve in Redwood City for my last hike. The weather was clear and the temperature was 60 degrees with a small breeze which was perfect for the steep grade of the trails. I had initially only planned to go to a large sandstone, the vista point, and back on the same trail. When leaving the vista point after lunch I decided to take a new way back to see the old growth redwood I saw on the map. This added 4 miles to my planned 2 mile hike and I ended up with 97 flights climbed which I felt afterwards. Much of the hike was done in the shade of the many redwoods that filled the valleys. There was many stream crossings done with bridges on the trail that ran along the bottom of the area. This part of the peninsula is one I've driven by many times but never walked around and I should have done this sooner.

For my second hike, I went to Anthony Chabot Regional Park in Oakland. This was a trail I had previously been on but never on foot. I have ridden mountain bikes around the area many times. The weather was nice not many clouds and low 60s. There was a nice breeze as we walked but it was hilly so there were stops for water. The flys were out but they did not seem that interested in us humans. The scenery was very familiar to me as I have been coming to this park for years. There was lots of evidence of recent rain from the many dried streams on the trails. I had a nice hike that was not too much of a drive to get too.
